You will be shocked to learn (sarcasm) that they did not want to reduce my rent.

That's pretty much the whole update.

I asked about rent relief options:

  • A payment plan to spread out payments

  • Temporary rent reduction

  • Deferment of rent without penalties

And they were like:

OR

What if?

Hear us out...

What if, instead of any of those options, right?

You paid rent in full at the usual time.

They weren't that snarky. I have loosely interpreted the dialogue here. 😁

But, substantially, that's how it went. I figured I can't know if they can budge unless I ask, so I asked.

Despite their firm stance, I'm not too emotionally activated. My experience working in Eviction Resolution demystified talking to housing providers.

HMU for resources to develop the skill of having challenging conversations. (Clearly I'm a bit stronger at initiation of them than persuasion during them.)

That's not my call to action for this post though.

My top ask this week

In-person help: I am extremely heat intolerant due to POTS and need assistance with meals, cleaning, and selling items. Even taking one or two things to sell on the Marketplace for me would be incredible.

My personal focus for this week

Debt reduction administration: I'll be following up with hospital debt forgiveness programs, the Utility Discount Program, and other expenses.

I know it's unconventional to share this level of detail. I want privacy as much as the next guy but I need this crisis to be more of a shared burden. Working hard earns me survival, but I want so much more.

If all you can do is care, please know that helps keep me going. (You can sign the guestbook!)

With love and gratitude,

Sarah
